Joseph Wright

Obituary of Joseph Anthony "Joe" Wright

JOSEPH ANTHONY WRIGHT, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2024.  He was met at Heaven’s gates by his daughter, Carrissa.

Joe was born in Watertown, WI to Elmer Wright and Carmen (Seefeldt) Wright Bubolz.  He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1986, excelling in Varsity Swimming where he broke school records.

Following high school, Joe attended UW-Stevens Point to pursue a degree in Forestry.  He worked at the canning company in Fort Atkinson and Crystal Farms Distributing in Lake Mills before accepting a full-time position at the Copps warehouse in Stevens Point picking orders and driving semi.

Joe was a lover of all things outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting (most specifically in Wyoming), spending time with family at the cabin, four-wheeling, fishing, playing cards and relaxing.  He also loved watching tractor pulling. Joe shared his love for these activities with his children.

Joe enjoyed coaching the SPASH trapshooting team, managing the Ashley Trap Shooting Club where he was a charter member, and shooting five-stand, trap, skeet and sporting clays for fun and competitively, spending many hours reloading ammunition for himself and others.  He met a lot of great friends while pursuing this passion.

Throughout his life Joe had multiple four-legged friends with the most recent being a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Mayhem.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Marcie Ann (Punzel) Wright of Custer, as well as his son, Anthony “AJ” Wright (Johanne) of Jefferson and grandson, Landan.

He also leaves behind his loving family; father Elmer Wright (Karen) of Indiana; Mother-in-law Joyce Punzel of Jefferson; brother Jesse Wright (Alison) of South Carolina; sister Katie Lehman (Tyler) of Indiana; sister-in-law Bonnie (Michael) Wiskowski and brother-in-law Jeffrey (Antoinette) Punzel; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Bubolz; sister, Julie Wright-Rosato; grandparents William and Pat Seefeldt and Harold and Eleanore Wright and father-in-law Lyle Punzel.
